A reporter (reporter Lin Jian Yang) from the Xinhua News Agency, Hong Kong, reported that the major Asian music event, the 2nd Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival, would be held in Hong Kong on 23 March. Artists from 7 regions, including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea will be attending the event.
According to sources, the music festival will be split into two segments, in accordance with the theme of the event, “Integrating Asia’s Music”. The first is where the 7 Asian regions each send a representative artist to participate in and observe performances, while the second involves each region choosing a new artist to participate in a competition for the title of “Asia’s Super New Artist”.
The singers attending this major event were all reccommended by local music organisations. The artists who will be performing, as well as observing performances, include Han Hong from mainland China, Leo Ku from Hong Kong, Jing Chang from Taiwan and Michael Wong from Malaysia. The artists competing for the title of “Asia’s Super New Artist” include Song Jingyu from mainland China, Hong Jie from Hong Kong and Anthony Neely from Taiwan. Event organisers have also invited Korea’s popular group “TVXQ” to be the ambassadors for the event, as well as to participate in performances.
The chairman of the Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival committee, Wu Yu, expressed at the press conference on 21 February, that the music festival has invited top singers from 7 Asian regions to perform in Hong Kong. A large audience of music fans in Hong Kong will be able to appreciate the latest and best pop music. He is looking forward to the event as being a platform for interactions across music industries throughout Asia, so as to promote the Asian music culture, encourage the interactions and exchange of ideas between musicians within the region, as well as to provide an opportunity to nurture new stars in the Asian music industry.
