[TRANS] 120309 “First Korean Singers To Have South American Concerts” JYJ, 400 Fans Cheer At The Chilean Airport

Group JYJ, the first Korean singers to challenge holding an independent concert in South America, arrived to much cheers at the Chilean airport. Due to flight delays, JYJ arrived at the Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Chile at 4.30am (local time) on 8 March, a day later than planned. Despite the delayed arrival in the country, around 400 fans waited tirelessly for them. The fans cheered passionately for the members who had travelled halfway around the world.

Seeing the appearances of JYJ at the airport, a female fan caught one of the members and showered him with kisses. Male fans were also witnessed tearing upon seeing the JYJ members. Even after JYJ had left the airport, the fans sent them off in cheers and sang along with some music.

A young female fan who spent a day at the airport said, “I cannot believe that I am able to see JYJ. It feels like I am flying. A miracle happened in my life.” She also showed her excitement when she said, “Although the concert will be held on 9 March, (we will) wait in line outside the venue from 8 March in order to get good seats. (We are) prepared to camp outside.”

Influential local newspapers also scrambled to report the news about JYJ arriving in Chile. Daily newspaper “La Hora” did a coverage of the arrival of the members in the country with the title “The Korean Phenomenon, JYJ, Arrived In Chile Today”. Subsequently, interesting content such as “JYJ is expected to engage the services of a local chef, in order to experience Chilean cuisine,” was also included in a report titled “JYJ’s Shocking Ticket Power Surprises Local Media”. Beginning with local television programme “Mega News” and influential paper “La Tecera”, other media platforms also published articles with titles (along the lines of) “First Korean Artist To Hold South American Concerts”.

JYJ will be holding their independent concerts at the Teatro Caupolican in Santiago,Chile on 9 March, and at the Explanada Sur del Estadio Monumental, a stadium with a capacity of 5,000, in Lima, Peru on 11 March.
