The Day, a documentary movie about JYJ, has suddenly been cancelled.
On January 30, a spokesperson of JYJ announced on JYJ’s official website, “The theater release of The Day, which was announced to be released soon, has unfortunately been cancelled. We are very sorry to inform you the cancellation of the theater release that we promised.”
On January 19, C-jes Entertainment, JYJ’s agency, announced The Day will be released in twenty CGV theaters throughout the country on Febryary 9. The Day is a documentary movie about JYJ. Because it’s been reported that it tells about JYJ members’ life and dreams, JYJ fans have been looking forward to it.
However, the release of this movie has been cancelled by CGV’s calcellation of the contract with C-jes. According to C-jes Entertainment, CGV has recently informed C-jes, “Because this contract hasn’t been confirmed by the person who has the final say, we’re initializing the contract.”
C-jes refuted, “Both companies have discussed about this matter for over a month and made the contract. It is unconvincing that they are cancelling the contract because of the reason. They are supposed to let us to make an alternative plan like changing the date for the release.”
In regard to this, a spokesperson for CGV reported to Starnews, “We didn’t finalize the contract because there have been several problems in the process of making the contract. There’s no conflict or problem with a specific agency.”
C-jes is planning to file a civil complaint to grievance committee and Fair Trade Commission against CGV in regard of CGV’s unilateral cancellation of the contract.
