The Past 10 Years Told By TVXQ And Their 6th Official Album
The duo who unknowingly reached their late twenties said, “We wish to
display the looks of ‘roaring’ men.” The album cover also included the
Dublin dog which is usually used as police dog, and with a full body
shot, showing such a meaning subtly. This is another side of the duo,
and also imaging their inner being.
TVXQ is one of the longest lasting idol groups who debuted in the
21st century. Though the five-membered group has changed into a duo
group, they still managed to turn SM’s exclusive ‘SMP’ into their own
style and still receiving love from everyone. However to those who were
anticipating an endless style of ‘SMP’ for this album, might be
disappointed as the long awaited (1 year 8 months) 6th album ‘Catch Me’
displayed a very different style.
“In fact, we didn’t know it would end up one year and eight months
later with the overseas performances and as the time passes by so
quickly. Of course the previously released ‘Why (Keep Your Head Down)’
is also great but we don’t wish to be stuck in that frame. As we want to
get closer to the public and for the public to see the melody as a
simpler one, we added ‘Dubstep’ (a type of electronic dance music)
during the process. It was something new.” (U-Know Yunho)
“Plan to target at elementary kids who don’t know TVXQ”
Songs that were sang when TVXQ was five-membered eg. ‘Rising Sun’,
‘Mirotic’ etc were like what everyone said, they are ‘energetic songs’.
When the duo regrouped themselves and released ‘Why’ last year, it was
similar. TVXQ who also agreed that debut song ‘Hug’ was the most
appealing to the general public, said “The elementary kids who listened
to ‘Hug’ ten years ago are already in their twenties now. The 10 years
cycle of generalised style, therefore I was thinking, shouldn’t we use
the vitality of a singer if we want to get some response from the
younger kids?”
“‘Why’ was an album released after a long while and thus all effort
were put in at the same time. There are parts which I felt it was done
at the best; Now our target is to dabble in various different style.
Cheerful songs and also many genres that I want to try again. But this
obviously was not an easy thing to do as it needs compromise.” (U-Know
Yunho)
“”Why’ is the first stage for both of us and thus there’s an
unfamiliar feeling. It’s the same in the nationwide tour in Japan. I
will worry that with just the two of us, can we fill up the 2-3 hours of
time? Because there’s no a so-called ‘know-how’, we started (the
nationwide tour) immediately. Therefore if we really had to say an
achievement, it’s calculated from the way of the degree of doing it. The
biggest return to me is that the confidence I gained from completing a
stage fully even though it’s only just the two of us.” (Max Changmin)
Debuted for 10 years… “If we could be recognised as ‘The Renowned Group In History’.”
Even sceneries might change in 10 years. TVXQ who is active shuffling
between Korea and Japan, will be welcoming their 10th year in 2012.
U-Know Yunho is embarrassed towards his company SM Entertainment’s
emphasis on the term “The Supreme of Male Idol Groups” and said, “It’s
true for leaving a name in history. Though there’s no thinking that we
HAVE to get recognised but we hoped that our records are unbeatable.”
“I feel that in the combat with myself, it is important to break my
own record. The last concert in Dome gathered 300 thousand fans and the
total audience was a record-breaking 550 thousand, isn’t it. Though it
was tough during preparation but to see that so many people sincerely
came for us, I felt really thankful. Previously ‘Reply Me 1997′ was very
popular. We wish that TVXQ can be like that too, being said that ‘TVXQ
is a idol group that will be known down the road in history.’ That will
be good.” (U-Know Yunho)
Welcoming their 10th year of debut, isn’t it time for some
preparation of a special performance of activity? “Though there isn’t
any actual plan yet but there were many thoughts for it.” U-Know Yunho
answered it this way. “Not sure how it would be like but during the 10th
anniversary, I wish to create a memory-worthy event.” First and
foremost, since the album is to be released, there should be plans for
performances, right? “Though there are events overseas, our own roots (T/N: domestic fans) can’t be forgotten.” This is TVXQ’s resolution.
Challenging PSY’s record! “We will strive to bring upon a widely popular performance.”
TVXQ who is preparing for their ‘second return’, has another target.
“We saw the craze of senior PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ and had a new courage
and hope.” TVXQ said, “Taking it as a chance, if everyone worked hard,
we should have better records appearing. This is not restricted to one
person but everyone has to move towards it with a true heart and
hopefully the Hallyu wave will not be gone.”
“I wish to stand on a stage that’s never before. If were to give an
example, it would be expanding the nationwide tour in Japan to a Dome
tour etc. I wish to create a ‘first’ record. SM Town was held in Madison
Square Garden before and I wish to hold a TVXQ concert there. I am
always wishing that ‘It would be good if we can grow like this.’” (Max
Changmin)
“The world tour will start in Seoul on the 17th and 18th of November.
Though an Asian tour was done before, this is the first time for a
World tour. Honestly, as compared to a tour, just a domestic concert was
held 4 years ago therefore we really wish to stand on the stage
domestically. I hoped that after everyone watched the concert, there
will be compliments such as, ‘Their concert is really interesting!’, ‘I
have to watch their concert!’ upon thinking of TVXQ.” (U-Know Yunho)
“Right now we shall remove the seriousness and and be a bit
ruffian-like at times, maybe a bit cheeky at times, such enjoyment
looks.” We might see these kind of TVXQ in near future and the other
side of Changmin who was revealed by MC Kyuhyun in MBC’s Golden Fishery –
Radio Star.
